Blue Chameleon is a classic tale written in just a few words. The students had a great time creating their own chameleon characters that were turned into a class book. See below. There are many lessons you could use Blue Chameleon for such as: inferring, connecting to schema, and word choice. Click on the book to get your own copy of the lesson plan ideas to implement with Blue Chameleon.
Emily Gravett's Dogs book was a number one hit by all! It is a great way to work on adding adjectives to simple sentences and also study a surprise ending. In this creative tale you don't find out until the last page that the story is written from a cat's perspective. We took this idea and tied it to science by brainstorming other predator/prey relationships that could be used in the same way. Below is the class anchor chart, the prewriting form, and some samples of this book idea. This is a super fun way to practice adjectives and many other writing/reading lessons. Click on the book for the reproducible of the Dogs book for students to make their own. Click on the prewriting form to print that.
Below transcribed: I love foxes. I love red and cute foxes. I love little and huge foxes. I love angry and mad foxes. But, the fox I like most is the fox that won't scratch me. (written from the perspective of a rabbit.)
